with all the warm air, the snow we had from last week melting quickly in the sierra nevada. let's get you caught up on hurricane sandy right now. it continues to be about 395 miles south of new york city and it parallels the southeast coast. this storm will be converging with the cold front, exploding over much of the mid-atlantic and the northeast in the next 24 hours. it's going to merge with that cold front there. so as it takes that left-hand turn, it just blossoms and we are looking at a huge storm surge, prolonged rains, hurricane force winds from new york city and even up through main and then southward throughout washington d.c. and then behind it, of course, the colder air, the snow from west virginia, ohio, western new york. so it will be a very big storm. we will be watching it closely in the next 24 to 48 hours as it impacts millions of people. live doppler 7 hd very quiet out there. some low clouds around the coast and they will be definitely increasing throughout the afternoon and evening hours. it's mild, though, to start out. 56 in mountain view, 57 in oaklan

we have more snow and winter storm warnings in the sierra nevada until 11:00 today and still some showers rotating through the bay area although that has moved a little further south into parts of the south bay towards morgan hill and gilroy. you can see the cells headed in that direction right now. still, if you are head out the door, a chance of a few more scattered showers. temperatures on the chilly side in the 40s and 50s right now. by the afternoon, it will stay cool and brisk. i love the feel of the cool air after a cold front moves boy and chance of more widely scattered showers but it will be less showers and probably a few more clouds around the bay area so staying fairly dry as we head throughout the day. a little unsettled though for today as the system moves by and then another stronger band move in late tonight into tomorrow morning to bring another chance of some rainfall. here's part of that system moving on through dragging through the south bay right now. that moves out. a chance of a couple of scattered pop-up showers. not a rainout. we have another cell dropping into t

we will have rain to talk about and snow in the sierra nevada. i believe this is -- 12elite swimmers in the bay swimming for sharks in a benefit for a shark program to race funds and awareness for the plight of sharks. i applaud that effort. i do. we are wiping out to many sharks. we have the low clouds in place and it's -- a lot of drizzle. reports of measurable drizzle along the coast, in the city and around the bay and yesterday was it for the heat. we are going to see temperatures drop way down. sunday will be increasing clouds and it does look like rain coming in for monday, tuesday. i realize -- grape growers holding onto cab grapes, probably zin but a lot of the hardier i would have crews standing by. there could be one to two inch ams if this continues to develop by monday and tuesday. won't be today. fog, sun, cooler, fog coast and some of that misty conditions. 60s to the 80's but after today no 80s for a while. we he will see 60s on the highs as we head toward the weekend. today even with the low clouds still on the mild side. take ano
